Anne, Miriam, and Dorcus

Character Analysis

Anne, Miriam, and Dorcus are Jubal's blonde, red-headed, and brunette secretaries, respectively. After Jill, they are the first three women Mike meets, and each provides Mike with a different personality to grok. Dorcus is freer and more fun-loving. Miriam is more emotional and motherly. And Anne, being a Fair Witness, is calm and reasonable. All three help teach Mike human customs and traditions. Pretty big deal, if you ask us.

If that weren't enough, all three ladies also join Mike's Church of All Worlds. Anne and Dorcus both get pregnant—and we're led to believe that Mike is the father. Talk about spreading the Martian seed.
