Luis really is awesome. When Tino asks him to explain his Golden Dawn tangerines to his science group, he enthusiastically teaches them everything they need to know. When he notices Paul's interest, he invites him back. And when Paul takes him up on that invitation—and Tino is less than thrilled—Luis is kind, and welcomes his interest and help. His death is the reason that Paul finds the strength to stand up for himself and confront Erik, his parents, and his own past.
