The Help doesn't feature anything graphic in the sex department. Skeeter and Stuart, the engaged-for-a-hot-second lovebirds, don't even seem to get past kissing and a thigh-grab or two. But there are a few references to rape and sexual abuse, not to mention a frank, but brief, memory from Aibileen of a child she cared for getting beaten because he is gay. Plus, the presence of Marilyn Monroe look-alike Celia Foote certainly steams up the pages a bit. This novel doesn't focus on sexual themes, but it does subtly reveal repressive and confused attitudes about sexuality. Overall, we're giving this one a PG-13 rating, just like the movie.
