The Spectacular Now Chapter 63 Summary

  • Ricky's packing for a vacation with Bethany and her parents.
  • Sutter's told him all about the fiasco with his dad, and Ricky's mad that Sutter lied to him all that time about his dad working in the Chase building.
  • Sutter tells him he's really thinking of cutting back on the drinking—but Ricky doesn't buy it.
  • When he's done packing, they each go their separate ways.
  • Sutter goes to Aimee's, whose mom thinks he's a hero now, since she told her Sutter saved her from being hit by a car.
  • He feels awful – about that, and about having to tell her about summer school soon.
  • They go to Marvin's, and he realizes he hasn't had a drink in five whole days.
  • He tells Aimee his dad has never called him to explain, and he never told his mom or sister that he went. He doesn't want them to say they told him so.
