Opinion:
“Harper Lee is trying to say that the belief that one race is "better" than another is bogus. She is saying that racism is unfair, unjustified, and harmful. She is also saying that it is wrong to harm something (someone) -- regardless of race -- that does not harm anyone/anything else (ie, a "mockingbird"). And her book shows the hypocrisy and tragedy of American society in the Jim Crow era when whites were heard while blacks had no voice -- and how it led to abuses and extremely unfair treatment and judgment against blacks.”
