The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a quick, fun read, full of adventure and hi-jinks. The book isn't without its dark moments, and the plot moves along a bit slowly at points, it's true. But it is, ultimately, "intended mainly for the entertainment of boys and girls"; it's not meant to be a really challenging read.
