Pierre falls asleep and suddenly remembers his old geography teacher. He thinks about a globe made out of drops of water that are struggling to reflect God as well as they can. Um, OK.
He wakes up and sees Platon’s little dog. Just as he is starting to think about the fact that Platon has been killed, he quickly distracts himself and falls back asleep.
When Pierre wakes up, the village is being overrun by Denisov’s men.
The freed prisoners kiss their rescuers.
Dolokhov and Denisov take almost two hundred French men prisoner.
