Things You Pretend

• Thanksgiving is over and the kids are in the lunchroom because the naked guy is out running amok, streaking down Broadway.
• Annemarie and Miranda are having a conversation at their table when, all of a sudden, Annemarie just starts staring into space.
• Julia comes over. She guides Miranda into a conversation and prompts her to pretend like she doesn't notice that Annemarie's spacing out. Julia eases Annemarie back into the conversation.
• Annemarie seems to come back to life and Julia leaves. A few minutes later, Annemarie is called to the nurse's office. She doesn't come back.
