William Wilson

by Edgar Allan Poe

Analysis: Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG

Considering this a tale of a man of ungovernable passions consumed by endless nights of vice, it’s a little surprising that there is no sex to be found. The narrator is apparently on his way to an affair at the end of the text, but we don’t get so much as a glimpse of the woman in question before the honorable doppelganger William steps in and interferes. (Doppelganger means ghostly double.) Gambling and murder, yes, but sex, not so much.
