Protagonist

Character Role Analysis

Narrator

There's no question that our narrator is the protagonist. He's the one we're rooting for. He's at the center of all the action, and we want him to come out on top. Our narrator is a little different than your normal protagonist, though. It's not often that a protagonist transforms from human to animal in the middle of the book. Since his personality stays the same after the transformation, though, so does his character role.
