Agur is another minor "character" in Proverbs. His last chapter oracle stresses humility before God and the importance of a life of moderation. He also provides some somewhat cryptic sayings about things that confound or amaze him: the way eagles fly, the way of a man with a woman, how badgers defend themselves, and how ants provide for their needs (to name a few). Again, Agur may have been a non-Israelite, indicating that the editors of Proverbs didn't mind taking wisdom from anyone who seemed to possess it, regardless of their nation or tribe.
