Emma and Kellan are hanging out in the library. Emma is stressing out about her future, but then she realizes something: The future changes a lot depending on what she does in the present. So if she's stressed out now, it could make her stressed out in the future. Confusing, right?
Emma asks Kellan if she ever thinks about her future husband. Naturally, Kellan has a theory about this—it's called The Husband Theory (19.7)—and it goes like this: If you're driving in your car and about to get in a major accident, whomever you think of first is your meant-to-be.
Emma is depressed thinking about Jordan Jones Jr., even though she doesn't know anything about him. Then an idea hits her: He's what's wrong with her future, so she needs to try and get rid of him.
She goes to the librarian and asks for the out-of-state phonebooks. The librarian directs her to the public library.
