Essay Glossary

Title

The title of your essay must serve two purposes: it should give your reader some idea of what your essay is about, and it should be interesting enough so your reader feels like picking up your paper and reading it. Or, if it’s in a word processing program, picking up your entire computer and reading it. Hope you don’t still have a desktop.

This is the place where you can get creative, even in a stuffy academic essay. And for Shmoop’s sake, please refrain from titling your essay “Essay.”
