Absenteeism

Derelicts. Lazy workers. Whiners. People who just don't want to be there. They are your employees, absent from work all the time. Unfortunately for you, you run your business in a blue state, so there's pretty much nothing you can do about it, other than pay them and hope that, someday, they find another gig. Were you in a red state, two week's notice and a thank you wave would do the trick. Absenteeism is actually a thing around the world, where workers miss work beyond normalcy, costing employers a fortune in lost productivity. So next time you think about hiring up, think about paying per hand-knitted sweater produced, rather than just giving those blue-haired old ladies a salary.
