Actual Total Loss

Your beach house on Kauai was so lovely. The aquarium had a tube that went directly into the ocean. Then global warming reared its head and a hurricane left you with just a sandy patch on the beach.

Your beautiful home was an actual total loss. The only thing saved from it was the aquarium tube, buried under the sand. Had that carried any real value, the replacement of your home would have been called a "constructive total loss," wherein you would've built the home around the aquarium tube. But that didn't happen, so you have a total loss, and here's to hoping you had total loss insurance for things like acts of God that seem to happen more and more often these days.
