Agreement Corporation

While it sounds like a company that is very friendly to work with, the designation of "agreement corporation" actually relates to international banking. The agreement corporation is a bank approved to conduct international banking.
The term derives from a 1916 act of Congress called, not surprisingly, The Agreement Corporation Act. It gave banks the ability to do business overseas, as long as they entered an agreement (hence the name) with the Federal Reserve to abide by its rules. This was followed up three years later with The Edge Act, which extended the system by giving the Fed the ability to charter banks for international business, and had nothing to do with the guitarist in U2. The term "edge corporation" apparently didn't catch on, though.
