American Land Title Association - ALTA

Categories: Real Estate, Insurance

It would be fun if the American Land Title Association was the group responsible for giving names to U.S. cities, making them responsible for Rancho Cucamonga, California, and Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. But, alas, the organization really devotes itself to the title insurance industry.

This means it focuses on professionals in the business of insuring land titles, a fancy way of saying they work to protect real estate investments. Founded in 1907, the ALTA is headquartered in Washington DC. It tracks who owns what. Woot.
