Asian Century

Categories: Econ, International

The sequel to the American Century...the Asian Century is the increase in power Asia is expected to have in the 21st century. The term actually emerged in the 1980s and gained traction in 2011 when the Asian Development Bank (ADB) predicted substantial growth in Indonesia, India and China.

As a side note, the last several centuries have had a geographic center: the 19th century is thought to have been a great age for the United Kingdom, and the 20th for the United States. The Asian Century predicts that focus will move to China and its neighborhood.
