Average Indexed Monthly Earnings (AIME)

Average indexed monthly earnings (AIME) is a term you’ll want to know when you’re an old dude or dudette. Why? Because it determines how much you’ll receive in Social Security (that is, if Social Security still exists). Social Security will take the average of up to 35 years of your earnings and find an average to determine what your benefits will be.
