Away From Home

A taxman term (like "audit" or "you're under arrest, Al Capone") that basically tracks what state you're in (yes, depression, euphoria, etc.).
Away From Home matters a lot these days, with Blue States charging enormous taxes and the wealthy fleeing them for cheaper, easier Red States. Defining WHERE you reside for tax purposes becomes a big deal in this Brave New World. Spend just 92 nights in California and the state will claim you as a fully-taxable-at-CA's-very-high-rates resident. Bottom line: If you go Away From Home, at least as far as CA is concerned, you need to really go away from home...and pretty much never return.
