The BIS is owned by 60 of the world's central banks (the U.S. central Bank is the Federal Reserve). The BIS membership accounts for about 95% of world GDP. The main BIS office in Basel, Switzerland, and two additional offices are located in Hong Kong and Mexico City. The mission of the BIS is to "foster international monetary and financial cooperation, and serves as a bank for central banks." For a fee.
