Bottom-Dollar Scam

This is a term used by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) for those out there making fraudulent claims involving promises of big money from mortgage modifications, debt reduction, etc. Also known as “last dollar scams.”

The name comes from the scam pulled by a con artist who claims that the consumer can bet their "bottom dollar" on the service they’re being sold. That's one dollar they'll never see again.
