Business

A career in business may vary from a career in a non-profit area in a few ways. Non-profits tend to focus on improving the field or community they are in rather than increasing profit amounts. This means the hours worked, and the tasks done during those hours, may be unorthodox, with different goals.
For instance, you might need to work evenings with the non-profit at an event for the community, whereas the for-profit might not have any evening activities at all.
Another difference is set-up. A business may have a single owner, whereas a non-profit is more likely to have a board of directors with no owner.
Because the focus and organization of the two differ, you may see more of a casual team organization in a non-profit, versus a business where tasks are organized more formally. In a regular business, there is someone assigned to the task, whereas a non-profit really focuses on the tasks getting done, and might not care as much about who does it.
