Call Report

Tom Cruise movie? He plays a futuristic hacker ops guy? Eh, maybe different Report.

Anyway...You won't see too many people in the banking industry taking a vacation the last day of a calendar quarter. That's because call reports are due to be submitted to the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC). The official name of the call report is the Consolidated Reports of Condition and Income. In other words, how healthy is this bank?

Call reports must include the bank's balance sheet and income statement, along with commentary on the numbers contained in the report. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) then carefully audits the submissions. And you thought running a bank was easy? Regulators, analysts, investors and the general public carefully review these submissions, especially if they want to compare one bank to another.
