Caput

Dead. Over. Done. Gone. Ended. Bankrupt. Fin. "Caput" comes from an old Latin term. Various forms can mean "a swelling" or "decapitation" (seriously, Google it), or most commonly these days, meaning the item referred to is just done.

If the car is caput, it's not going anywhere. It could also be injured (probably not decapitated) but if the mechanic says "caput" you better find a new way to work. If you're running a factory, and your management says it's caput...you might better polish your resume.
