Cease and Desist

There's a great untapped market for cease and desist letters. Kids throwing tantrums, bosses nagging, people behind you on planes kicking your seat. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way.

A cease and desist letter tells someone to stop doing something. Usually, we're talking a legal dispute. You'd like someone to cease infringing your patent or desist in parking their car on your property. There's nothing binding about them in themselves. It's a warning of future legal action.

But if a court issues a cease and desist order, the offender has to stop the action. They could appeal and there could eventually be a trial. A permanent injunction could eventually be granted. As for the seat kicker, you may have to just grin and bear it.
