Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement - CIPM

Categories: Index Funds, Metrics

Why is it that the people with the most acronym titles after their name on their business cards are usually the most boring, pompous people at the party?

Also acronymed as CIPM, the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement is an internationally recognized accreditation issued by the CIPM Association affiliate of the CFA Institute. Recipients are trained analysts in global regulations, market customs, and financial laws as criteria for calculating and assessing investment performance criteria used for marketing and advertising.

CIPM certificate owners are analysts whose expertise is critical for compliance with the SEC in the US, and with equivalent regulatory bodies in other nations, ostensibly “to protect the investing public from false advertising.” Hmm...ever wonder how many CIPM recipients were writing glowing reports about those mortgage bonds before 2008?

Certificate holders are subject to continuing education requirements and annual conduct statement filings in order to maintain their certificate status, aka, “the license to hoodwink.”
