Chief Information Officer - CIO

You have a big organization with lots of technologies and processes. You have a big IT department. And you need someone to overlook all of those people and their projects.

So your firm hires what is known as a Chief Information Officer (CIO). Or they might call themselves a Chief Digital Information Officer.

This is the nerd in charge handling the firm’s strategic and technical goals, including data security and computer technologies. They also use consumer data to build marketing programs. He or she will typically report directly to the CEO or CFO.
