Chip-And-Signature Card

Categories: Tech, Banking

Chips and Signature Salsa sound better, but neither is going to protect your credit rating and personal data.

For those matters, consumers can use a fraud prevention technology in the form of embedded chips in their credit cards. These chips create unique transaction records that make each purchase unique. It's almost impossible to clone or steal personal data from them. And while they have many similar characteristics to Chip-and-PIN cards, a Chip-and-Signature card has a different process to complete a transaction.

Rather than using a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to finish a transaction, customers must sign the receipt to complete a purchase. This signature process is like the swipe-and-sign magnetic credit cards that pre-dated chip technology.
