Cleantech

Short for clean technology.

Not like a Roomba or one of those fancy Dyson vacuums. Think clean air, clean water, etc.

The category covers technology that minimizes environmental impact. Cleantech includes things like solar panels and wind farms. To date, as a financial investment, the industry has been a dog. (But so has the airline industry, for that matter, and we still keep it around.) Coal costs about 5 bucks a kilowatt...wind power is more like $50...solar about $35. When the numbers get closer, maybe we'll see more stuff like this killing birds along highways.
