Closing Bell

At the end of the day, a bell on the New York Stock Exchange rings to signify that the market has ended trading for the day. It marks the end of trading on the U.S. market (except of course for after-hours trading). The bell ringing happens at 4 pm Eastern Standard Time, every trading day, a time otherwise known as beer o'clock.
