Commercial Grain Stock

The government keeps a lot of statistics. It tracks economic growth, jobs, and the output of various industries, among other things. For farmers and traders involved in the commodities market, the government keeps tabs on the commercial grain stock.

The statistic measures the total amount of grains currently kept in storage in the U.S. The stats, released quarterly, include a number of individual products, like wheat, corn, rice, and soybeans.

It may seem like the ultimate bureaucratic nightmare to have to literally count every soybean currently sitting in a silo somewhere in the country, but hey, that's government work.
