You own an oil well, and each day you produce lots of oil for delivery. But you need to sell it before you can put it into a pipeline or onto a truck. You take that oil to either a physical or virtual commodity market. These markets exist specifically for the trade of raw and primary materials.

There are about 50 of these markets around the globe, and you can trade about 100 different primary commodities from soybeans to pork bellies. Just like any other market, prices have been easily manipulated and subject to scams. Don’t be surprised to meet a lot of shady people at these markets.
