Comprehensive Glass Policy

Categories: Insurance

You own a home. On your deck, you have a number of big glass windows that look out on the water. In the evening, you start to hear bangs on the window. You don’t realize it, but it’s the sound of birds slamming into your window because they don’t know the glass is there.

If you’re a homeowner, you might have a few windows that are cut in unique patterns, or are extremely large. If one of those birds slam through one of those windows (an incident that leads to upwards of 988 million bird deaths a year) your homeowner's insurance might not cover the bill. Insurance may also not cover broken glass for a number of other reasons, including what might happen if you walk right through it as well.

This is why comprehensive glass policies exist. These insurance policies cover damaged and broken glass, especially on projects that would require a glass specialist. These policies are more extensive and cover a wider array of glass products beyond standard plate glass.
