Cover Note

You go online and purchase car insurance on a vehicle you bought today. You get approval. You now have insurance effective this morning. But the insurance policy won’t be issued right away. They need to get their paperwork together. They need to issue the final policy.
While you wait for those documents to arrive in the mail, you’ll receive something called a Cover Note. This is a temporary form that offers proof of insurance. So that, if you get in an accident or a highway cop in short shorts pulls you over, you have evidence that you’ve paid for a policy.
