Coverage triggers are a pretty simple concept. When insurance policies are written, insurance companies need to let us know what types of events will be covered.

State Farm commercials are full of coverage triggers; people are in these over-the-top situations, and the State Farm agent appears and says, “You’re covered.” Well, those over-the-top situations that their policy covers are called coverage triggers in the industry.
