Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA)

CROA was Title IV of the Consumer Credit Protection Act, which passed in 1996 under President Bill Clinton. The statute is designed to protect consumers from unfair practices of credit repair organizations that could further damage a consumer’s credit profile.

The law requires that consumer repair organizations give (up front) all the information on the services, related contract details, and financial penalties.
