Crossover Fund

You might think you can only invest in publicly traded companies, but there are investments called crossover funds, where you can invest in privately held companies as well. After all, everyone needs more capital in order to grow, so crossover funds enable a privately held company to attract more investors.

The term is also used to describe investments in both investment grade and non-investment grade securities, as well as high-yield securities.
