Dark Money

Dark money refers to donating money to nonprofit organizations, which then spend it to influence elections, such as a political action committee (PAC).

The donations can be from individuals, companies, or trade unions, and the amount is unlimited. Nonprofits also do not need to disclose who their donors are. It's feared that large donations can unfairly influence elected officials who may feel beholden to the nonprofit PACs.
