Most insurance property and casualty policies will cover a certain amount of replacement and rebuilding in the case of fire or earthquake or other sustained property damage. However, the cost of removing the burned or collapsed debris in order to clear the path and space for reconstruction usually requires a separate insurance policy, believe it or not. Oh, those insurance people...there's good reason Warren Buffett is the wealthiest man in the world. Or at least up there. They get a big premium on top of the first premium if the trash, for example, is littered with asbestos or nuclear waste or those who ratted against The Mob.
