Dim Sum Bond

Ever had dim sum? Rhymes with "yum."

Dim sum bonds are Chinese bonds, nom de plumed after this delectable dish. While we Westerners can’t directly dive into Chinese debt markets, we can buy dim sum bonds. These bad boys are issued in Hong Kong and paid out in Chinese yuan. While the popularity of dim sum bonds plummeted a few years ago, they’re currently making a comeback.

Is the term kind of racist? Or...jingoistic, maybe? Feels like there's some violation in there. But a dumpling has a noodle wrapper and meat inside, and that's kind of the vibe here, as they mirror a Yankee Bond with assets in one country, issuance in another, and sometimes trading experience in yet another.
