It's a fancy term for the fact that your credit card has your name and the card number on it. The raised type on the card...that's the embossed part.
Now that you know, you can give all sorts of fancy "embossed" names to regular things. An acne outbreak becomes "embossed skin." Or a mountain range becomes an "embossed landscape."
