Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

A part of the U.S. federal government tasked with enforcing environmental regulations. Or with removing environmental regulations, depending on which political party is in power.

If you run a nuclear power plant and start dumping your radioactive waste in the local swan preserve, you might hear from the EPA. Or if you run a tire burning depot and the smoke you emit exceeds the accepted level of carcinogens, you might hear for the EPA. Or if you run a ghost-catching business and have an unlicensed ghost containment unit in the basement of your renovated firehouse headquarters, you might hear from the EPA.

The agency's goal (in theory, at least) is to save the planet, so we all have something to live on in 40-50 years. Of course, Elon is working on Plan B. Godspeed.
