Federal Land Bank - FLB

Categories: Banking, Real Estate

City slicker Wall Street types don’t have special banks. Well, there are investment banks, so...maybe strike that. But rural jeans-wearing, belt buckle-polishing salt-of-the-earth types definitely have a special bank. It’s called the Federal Land Bank and it specializes in commercial transactions related to rural properties. Think: farms.

The FLB’s purview includes things like farms and gingerbread houses and forestry concerns. The system, dating back to 1916, actually has a similar structure to the Federal Reserve, the U.S. central bank. Like the Fed, the FLB consists of 12 regional districts, each with its own FLB branch.
