Filtering

A person telling someone else what he/she wants that person to hear and leaving out the rest. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a lie…although it certainly can be…but it’s more like “doctoring” the information, or cherry picking what’s being told in order to sway that person’s opinion.

Different news outlets will filter information depending on what they want their audience to hear…usually guided by political affiliations. In the workplace, those with access to the administration may filter information to benefit themselves, or to tell the bosses what they want to hear so as not to make them mad and have them go on a firing spree.
