You know your bank account number by now. Maybe not what it is, but at least where it is. If you have a mutual fund, your folio number is kind of like that: it’s an account number connected to your holdings in a mutual fund.
A folio number, like a bank account number, has all kinds of history attached to it: transaction history, and stuff about you, the investor. Do you have a mutual fund? Hunt down your folio number. You (or your heirs) may need it some day.
