Fourth World

You might be familiar with the three-world model: America, Canada, some of Europe, and some of southern Africa makes up the “First World.” The “Second World” is mostly Russia and China, who were for many decades (maybe not for long) developmentally (economically) a bit behind many of those in the “First World.” And finally the “Third World,” which is everyone else.

The “Fourth World” is an additional world off of the mainstay three-world model, which refers to societies that are small and off-the-grid. Fourth World societies include hunter-gatherer societies, subsistence farmers, and generally anyone who isn’t plugged in (like, at all).

Fourth World as a term isn’t the most common, and is definitely not PC (politically correct) so....do what you will with it, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
