FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

Copying files. There's a whole littany of computer software protocols that must be met in order for files to be properly copied and pasted from one hard drive to another. That's what FTP is.

Basically, it's the rules from a technical perspective that move files around the ethosphere.

Originally pioneered at The University of Minnesota, the program was called GOPHER in its early days, partly as a shout out to the Golden Gophers there, shivering in the cold. Proudly, most intellectual property theft on the internet these days, from bit torrents to napster to YouTube posts, all use FTP. Go Gophers!
