Global Registered Share

Categories: Stocks, International

Different countries have different currencies. Go from New York to London and you’ll need to turn your dollars into pounds. The same is sometimes true for stocks.

Because different countries have different laws, not all types of shares can be listed on multiple international exchanges. Those shares you trade on the NYSE might not be eligible to get listed on the London exchange.

Global registered shares are the exception. These equity securities can be traded on different countries’ exchanges, and can be transferred across borders.
