Global Sustainable Investment Alliance - GSIA and US SIF

The US Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment (US SIF) is one of many partners of the Global Sustainable Investment Alliance (GSIA), both of which are aptly named. The GSIA is a membership-based entity where organizations focusing on sustainable investment can collaborate together.

Their goal is to pool their resources and knowledge to make investment opportunities and relationships that will last (sustainably) globally, leading to more growth and even more investment opportunities.

So what is “sustainable investment” anyway? It has to do with screening for multiple factors (“is this a good idea?”), integrating ESG (environmental, social, and governance) factors into investment decisions, impact/community investing, and keeping shareholders and corporate players engaged and active in the process. This ensures that investments won’t be in danger from putting a community at risk, keeps investors paying attention, and makes sure the investments are worth the risk. Sounds sustainable to us.
